As many of you already know, about three months ago, I purchased a new laptop that had the 32 bit Vista Operating System installed and it came with a free (well, almost free) copy of Windows 7 when it was released. Well, October 22nd, 2009, Windows 7 was released and as promised, I received my almost free copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (almost free, had to pay $13.00 shipping) and had a chance to install it last night.
After almost 3 hours, the upgrade completed and I am pleased to announce that there was no data loss (or at least that I have found yet) and all of my programs that I have been using are working very nicely. I still have a lot of testing to do and a lot more getting used to the way things are laid out in Windows 7, but for the most part…I like what I am seeing!
Even though my new PC was much faster out of the box, I have already noticed a speed increase right after the upgrade…just as promised! It’s too early to tell, but I think Microsoft may have finally done something right with Windows 7. Time will tell…it always does!
I will keep you updated with news about the upgrade and what I find out as I go about using it.
